Hey hey Adventurers

Today I want to share with you a fantastic experience that we had the chance to live last week. We were invited to visit the children’s museum “La boîte aux métiers” in Quebec City. I must say that it was an instant favourite! If you want to discover a unique universe and you want to integrate the pleasure of culture to your young children, the box of trades is the place to start your initiation.

A different kind of day

We arrived in the early afternoon and were greeted by the dynamic owner, Emilie. She is a mother of 6 children and we feel that she is in her place. She has a passion for children, fun activities, travel and the outdoors. His passion and knowledge are reflected in his museum.  Once inside, she explained how her museum stood out from others and why children love her so much. It is very simple: children learn through free and symbolic play the different professions. In addition everything is “kid-friendly”, a lot of effort is invested in it so that your little ones play in a safe place.  So there’s no danger of children getting hurt. A museum where you can touch exhibitions, it really gives punch!

Symbolic games at their best

The museum is divided into two floors and is classified by professions: Professor, veterinarian, policeman, fireman, hairdresser and more. The little girl in me really enjoyed playing hairdresser, teacher and airplane pilot! There is a real police car, a small plane and even a piece of Westfalia signed by “One Direction”!  Our children disappeared for the afternoon, they had so much fun in all the stations! Even Alaska had its own baby play area.  The museum is full and really well done. I particularly appreciated being able to take the time to play with my children in a unique context. It is a precious gift that the museum offers.

Coup de coeur

Our children’s favorites? Nicolas especially enjoyed shopping, brushing his dogs in the veterinary station and putting gas in his used car! Charlie discovered the joys of Pacman, rocking babies in the nursery and reading books at his desk.

To end our visit in style, we took the classic slush puppy blue, for children it was the cherry on the sundae! The flattest in this day? Leave the place, as we would have spent more hours.  It would certainly be a place where we would often go if we were in the Quebec City area. The atmosphere is very different from the indoor entertainment centers. Instead, the box offers the opportunity to try lots of toys that children would not necessarily have been able to try elsewhere.

So if you are looking for a fun and playful place to spend your afternoons, or even to celebrate your children (because yes you can rent a room for your children’s parties!) The Crafts Box is the place to be. If you go there, do not hesitate to discuss with Émilie, she will explain the history of the museum and discuss with you on many fascinating topics concerning children and travel!
