f the holiday season feels more stressful than joyful for you, between gifts, meals, and running from one family gathering to another, and you end up feeling like you never truly get quality time with your kids, I may have found the perfect solution for a softer, simpler Christmas that actually aligns with what you want.

This year, we were incredibly lucky to spend Christmas at Jouvence Resort, nestled in the heart of Mount Orford. I’m sharing our experience day by day, and maybe it will inspire you to try it for yourself next year for a pressure-free Christmas filled with magical family moments.

Day 1- The arrival (December 23rd)

We arrived at Jouvence around 12:30 p.m. The kids were bursting with excitement at the idea of starting their Christmas holidays “at a hotel.” The four of us traveled together, me and the kids, while my partner joined us later after work.

From the moment we arrived, we immediately noticed the magical atmosphere surrounding the site. Nestled in the heart of Mount Orford, Jouvence is surrounded by nature and forest. The entire site is pedestrian-only, which adds greatly to the feeling of calm and safety.

At the reception, we were warmly welcomed by the team. They explained how the stay worked and showed us our assigned table in the dining room for meals. A small detail that made a huge difference was that someone even helped me carry the kids’ plates at the buffet, because managing three children alone at a buffet is no small task.

We were staying under the Club formula, which means all meals and activities were included. We were able to sit down, enjoy a delicious hot meal, and finally take a breath before heading to our room.

First adventures and installation

After lunch, we headed to La Poudrerie to discover our rooms. We had a connecting room with the kids, and at the center of the building there is a shared lounge with a fireplace, tables, and sofas, perfect for chatting, playing, or simply relaxing. I found it especially convenient for families spending the holidays together in a group.

In the afternoon, a light, magical snowfall began. We took the opportunity to explore the site, play broomball near the reception area, go sledding, discover the snowshoe trails, try snow scooters, play at the park even in the snow, observe the frozen lake, and most importantly, create beautiful memories.

The kids never complained about being cold or asked to go back inside. In the late afternoon, a warm grog was served outdoors for both kids and adults. That’s when my partner arrived, and the festivities officially began.

Dinner, Christmas Story and Campfire

Here is a warm, natural English translation that keeps the emotion and flow:

The dinner buffet on December 23 was overflowing with generous and delicious food. During the meal, costumed hosts came by to invite us to a Christmas story that would be presented later in the evening. The story introduced the theme of the week’s activities, and the kids were completely captivated.

After the story, an outdoor campfire with s’mores was offered. We took the time to chat with other families and with some incredibly kind animators. My son even fell in love with one of them, which says a lot about how warm and caring the staff truly are. Honestly, I have never experienced service that felt so human and thoughtful.

We went to bed with light hearts, stars in our eyes, excited to see what the next day had in store.

Day 2 – December 24, a Christmas like in the movies

The next morning, it was snowing just like in a Christmas movie. We got dressed and headed to La Crémaillère for breakfast. Bacon, pancakes, eggs, juice, coffee, and unlimited hot chocolate. Clearly, good food is never lacking at Jouvence.

Then came a small disaster. Alaska’s jacket zipper completely broke, leaving her coat wide open. Terrible timing. Slightly panicked, I went to the front desk hoping to find a solution. The woman there was incredibly kind. She called home and had her father come by to lend us a jacket that her children no longer used. I have never experienced service like that. She truly saved our morning.

Activities for the kids and a well-deserved break for the parents

That morning, the kids were divided into age groups at the agora for special activities. My two oldest were over the moon. The youngest was a bit more hesitant, but thanks to the patience and professionalism of the animator, we were able to leave her there with complete peace of mind.

The parents’ activity was just as enjoyable. Snowshoe cocktails. We headed out for a snowshoe hike, a bit longer than expected, and ended it with a cocktail in the forest. That couple moment, knowing the kids were safe and happy, was truly priceless.

At lunch, the kids were thrilled to tell us about their activities like the aerial course and crafts. In the afternoon, we had several options: indoor climbing, a family snowman rally, or free sledding. We chose sledding while everyone else was busy elsewhere.

That’s also one of the things I appreciated most about Jouvence. Everything is offered, but nothing is mandatory. You choose what works best for your family, with no pressure at all.

Christmas Eve

Here is a warm, flowing English translation that keeps the magic and emotion of the moment:

After the 4 p.m. grog, we headed back to our room to get ready. The Christmas Eve dinner was absolutely decadent. Tourtière, turkey, smoked salmon, beef bavette, Yule log, pudding. Everything you could dream of was there. We opened a good bottle of red wine, the kids played with their new friends, and a feeling of lightness washed over us.

After the meal, it was time for a Christmas story by the fireplace, followed by the long-awaited arrival of Santa Claus. Each child received a gift that parents had discreetly dropped off at the front desk upon arrival. The excitement was indescribable.

The evening continued with a dance party and another buffet filled with popcorn, candy, chips, and sugar pie. When our son finally fell asleep in our arms, we headed back to our room, hearts full.

Day 3 – December 25, already the end

Last morning. We’re happy, but also a little sad knowing it’s already our final day. After a light breakfast, we take part in a family activity making salt dough ornaments. As always, everyone is attentive and kind, and the kids are happy to reunite with their friends.

Then comes the Christmas brunch. Once again, the buffet is impressive. An omelet station, pancakes, croissants, and even desserts from the night before. A true feast.

And just like that, it’s time to leave.

Why I recommend Jouvence to all families

These two days were absolutely magical. Everything is thoughtfully designed to create a truly magical Christmas. Parents can genuinely take a break, kids make new friends, the food is exceptional, and the activities are varied and suited for everyone.

I recommend that every family treat themselves to this experience at least once, ideally with the Club formula. And if Christmas isn’t an option for you, know that Jouvence is a four-season destination and that the Club formula is also available in the summer.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire Jouvence team for this extraordinary invitation. One thing is certain, we will be back.
