We arrived right at opening time, at 10 a.m., all excited to rediscover this place. We had already visited when Charlie and Nicolas were just 4 and 2 years old, and it was a real pleasure to see the improvements made to the facilities.
The museum offers several interactive exhibits on biodiversity, covering themes such as the evolution of species throughout history, the richness of the St. Lawrence River, and fascinating insects. The experience is truly designed for children, allowing them to touch, smell, and guess in different sections.
What they particularly loved:
The museum also features a 3.5 km forest trail, accessible in all seasons. Outside, you can observe birds of prey, foxes, and even deer. A perfect way to start the day in nature.
Just a two-minute drive away, in the heart of Bécancour, lies this wonderful discovery. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived. Opened in 2007 in a former general store, this unique spot combines a restaurant and a local products boutique, offering a cozy and authentic atmosphere.
Here, you can enjoy delicious breakfasts and lunches, and even visit their soap-making workshop, where all products are handmade on-site. It's a beautiful family-run business that highlights local craftsmanship.
Our favorites:
Make sure to book in advance, as this place is very popular.
After this delicious meal, we headed to Mont Apic, located in Saint-Pierre-Baptiste, about an hour from Bécancour. As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the beauty of the surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere.
There are several activities available on-site:
Since our skiing skills are still limited, we opted for snow tubing, and it was an unforgettable experience. Four beautiful runs with a panoramic view of the region, bright sunshine, and a friendly atmosphere made the moment truly magical. Charlie even made two new friends and spent the whole afternoon sliding with them. Even Alaska, who usually gets bored of outdoor activities quickly, stayed engaged for a long time.
The access to the lift is super easy, which is a real plus for families with young children. You can also rent equipment or take ski lessons with an instructor.
Everyone knows the famous Victoria poutine, but did you know it was born in Victoriaville? After a full day of adventures, we headed to Fromagerie Victoria – The Original, the place where it all began.
Here, you can choose your favorite poutine, enjoy a local beer, or treat yourself to an ice cream for dessert. The boutique also offers a wide variety of cheeses and gourmet products to take home. It was the perfect stop to end our day on a high note.
To complete this getaway, we spent the night at the Quality Inn & Suites in Victoriaville. Our family room was equipped with two large, comfortable queen beds, a sofa bed, and a microwave.
We also took advantage of the indoor pool, located in a bright room with a beautiful view of the outdoors. Both an indoor and an outdoor spa were available, adding an extra touch of relaxation. After such a full day, the kids were thrilled to unwind in the water.
The next morning, we enjoyed a buffet breakfast worthy of top hotels, featuring a complete selection: eggs, bacon, cereals, a variety of breads, cheeses, yogurts, and best of all, a make-your-own waffle station with real maple syrup. The perfect way to start the day before hitting the road again.
Centre-du-Québec is more than just a region between Montreal and Quebec City. It’s a destination worth discovering, offering a variety of activities and exciting experiences for families. I hope this itinerary inspires you for spring break or your next family outings.
If you visit any of these places, come share your experience with us in the Faventure community and on Instagram. We’d love to hear your thoughts!
See you soon for more family adventures,
Lisa-Marie
