We hiked along the #2 trail up to the top of the Mont and the #3 trail down.
It smelled good fresh air walking in the forest and in the sugar bush. The light from the October sky was lovely and gave an extra punch to the foliage that didn’t need it to dazzle me.
The summit is unique. There is a telecommunications tower at the top, but also a kind of big bunker dating from the time when the outdoor base was a military base (1953 to 1964)
To brighten things up, Halloween decorations and a fake cemetery set the tone for the approach of October 31.
The view of the windmills overlooking the surrounding hills was impressive. So we picnicked next to the fake cemetery enjoying our snacks as much as the scenery. Nicolas even took the time to redecorate the cemetery by moving a skeletal hand from one tomb to another. The fear aspect didn’t affect him at all.
The climb to trail #2 was easy and the terrain, although rough, was dry. To go down, trail #3 was different. The bouette was at the rendezvous, which made him more adventurous. It made the happiness of my cocos, but be warned if this is the path you want to take that good shoes and even walking sticks are useful to avoid finding yourself face or ass first in the mud.
