First, I must tell you that this is a service for families that I would describe as real treasure! A very important fact to note is that the toy libraries are open to everyone. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, educator, living with a difficult financial situation or a high family income, everyone is invited to become a member. There are no exclusions. The purpose of these organizations is simple, to encourage family entertainment.
The functioning of the toy libraries is the same as for the libraries; in the form of an annual subscription, one can borrow a certain number of toys for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. We then bring them back and leave with a new selection! We can find on site a wide range of games and toys for all ages (even teenagers and adults!). You will find, among others, many board games, puzzles, simulation games (stove, workbench, etc.), engine games, balloons, outdoor games, disguises, blocks and so much more!
A subscription to our neighborhood’s toy library allows us to try games before we buy them (what could be more unpleasant than buying a game and that in the end, it is not suitable for our family at all). It also allows us to reduce our ecological footprint by borrowing toys rather than buying them new. The loan period is large enough for our child to have gone around the game/toy, which gives us the opportunity to rotate toys in a much more economical way as well.
That’s not all! Some toy libraries also organize parent-child activities.
You only have to follow their Facebook page to not miss anything. They are found in virtually every region of Quebec.
I invite you to consult the following link on the Protégez-vous website to see the games in your region:
